Charlotte, NC — This Black History Month, the Pepsi National Battle of the Bands invites audiences nationwide to experience "The Best of the Battles" — a dynamic celebration of historically Black colleges and universities. (HBCUs)
Airing from January 31 through March 1, 2026, The Best of the Battles is the sixth installment in the nationally broadcast film series. It highlights the pageantry, discipline, sound, and spirit that define HBCU marching band culture — from unforgettable performances to moments that helped shape this iconic tradition.
Narrated by Milan Davis, celebrated alumna of Southern University and a member of the Famous Dancing Dolls, the film revisits standout moments from more than 15 years. With interviews, exclusive insights, and behind-the-scenes glimpses, viewers will see why HBCU marching bands are more than entertainment — they are cultural ambassadors.

The 2026 Pepsi National Battle of the Bands featured six powerhouse ensembles during the Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend showcase in The Palm Beaches:
Bethune-Cookman University — Marching Wildcats

North Carolina A&T State University — Blue & Gold Marching Machine
South Carolina State University — Marching 101
Southern University — Human Jukebox
