
Jackson State University is entering a transformative period following the selection of Dr. Denise Jones Gregory as its next president.
The university’s Board of Trustees confirmed the appointment after a comprehensive national search, signaling confidence in her leadership and vision for the institution’s future.
Dr. Gregory brings decades of experience in higher education administration, strategic planning, and student success initiatives. Her appointment reflects a commitment to strengthening the university’s academic excellence while advancing innovation and community engagement.
Gregory graduated magna cum laude in 1994 from Jackson State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in chemistry. She earned her doctorate in chemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Gregory completed additional training through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She is a graduate of the New Presidents Academy through the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and completed the Willa B. Player Executive Leaders Program and the HBCU Executive Leadership Institute Program, both through Clark Atlanta University.
