Spelman College is taking its commitment to student success to new heights! For the 2024–2025 academic year, 2,324 Spelman scholars received an incredible $27 million in scholarships and financial aid. From endowed awards to annual and merit-based scholarships, this record level of support is helping students dream big, stay focused, and achieve more.
The college’s Scholarship Application Portal makes the process easy, matching students with opportunities that fit their unique goals and needs. Each year, Spelman’s Financial Aid Office connects thousands of scholars to funding that keeps education accessible and achievable for all.

Big Numbers, Bigger Impact
In total, Spelman distributed $96 million in federal, state, and institutional funding this year — a major win for access and affordability. More than 90% of Spelman students received some form of financial assistance, underscoring the college’s mission to open doors for talented young women of African descent.
This milestone directly aligns with Goal 2 of Spelman’s Strategic Plan — expanding student access and social mobility through increased scholarships.
A Team That Makes It Happen
Behind the scenes, the Financial Aid Office and its small but mighty scholarship team work year-round to ensure that every dollar counts. With over 200 scholarship sources, the team goes above and beyond to match students to their best-fit awards.
“Our team works tirelessly to make sure each scholarship dollar has maximum impact,” Berrien added. “We may not be able to fund every applicant, but we make every effort to turn financial aid from a hope into the reality of a Spelman education.”
