A Partnership Rooted in Awareness, Wellness, and Community. The donation builds on an ongoing partnership between Spelman and BIG, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to introducing Black communities to golf as a tool for relational wellness, fundraising, and advocacy to end violence against women and children. Over the past two years, BIG has contributed nearly $10,000 to Spelman’s Title IX initiatives, supporting prevention education, survivor-centered services, and trauma-informed responses.
Bison Impact Group (BIG) Golf with purpose.
🎯⛳In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, BIG hosted its annual golf tournament—one of the organization’s signature events—bringing together students, survivors, advocates, and community members. The tournament blends sport, philanthropy, and education to foster healing, build meaningful connections, and create safe spaces for honest conversations about domestic violence.
By using golf as a bridge, the event encourages dialogue, promotes healthy relationships, and helps dismantle stigma surrounding intimate partner violence within Black communities.

Addressing such a Critical Issue. "
Spelman College and Howard University—widely recognized as the nation’s top two HBCUs—serve as flagship partners in this work. Funds raised through BIG initiatives directly support Howard University’s Interpersonal Violence Prevention Program (IVPP) and Spelman College’s Violence Prevention and Intervention Program (VP&I).
“We intentionally partnered with Howard and Spelman to ensure students and survivors receive the support they need to complete their education and model healthy relationships in the broader community,” said Russ Green, Founder of Bison Impact Group.
Turning Fundraising into Real-Time Support.
“The funds raised by BIG allow us to address immediate and real needs,” said Kristin Couch, Associate Director of Title IX and Compliance at Spelman College. “From training opportunities to trauma-informed response services, we’re able to support people exactly where they are.”
